EFCCM National Conference 2018

National Conference in Lethbridge was great! Reconnecting with friends, meeting new people, hearing stories of what God is doing, being encouraged and challenged from the Word are some of the things that made this time special. We are so glad we were able to be there!

Probably about 200 people were in attendance, as you can see in this photo. The volunteers at Lethbridge Evangelical Free Church did a fantastic job of making us feel welcome! The food was great and there was lots of room for hanging out with friends and chatting about life and ministry. Thanks Harold and Lorraine for your hospitality.

The weather was very warm (40 C), but that is getting us ready for summers in Ukraine! Average temperatures there are 35 - 40 C in July and August.

After Conference, we were able to meet some T.E.A.M. supporters (Don and Susan took us out for supper) on our way to Red Deer. We shared about Ukraine at Unity Baptist Church, our church while we lived in Red Deer many years ago. It was great to catch up with friends there. Thanks Dwight and Lois for your hospitality.

Driving home Sunday afternoon was kind of a 'stroll down memory lane'! We drove through Stettler and stopped at Tim Horton's. Let me tell you the story...

Tim's in Stettler, Alberta

Last August 2nd we were driving home after spending a few days with our daughter, Rachelle, and her family after I returned from Ukraine. We have three different routes to pick from and that day we chose that one. We were a little bit behind schedule, but that happens sometimes.

We were talking about what God was stirring in our hearts about full-time missions to Ukraine, wondering what the next steps would be. We figured that we should get in touch with Wade Hammond, the Personnel Director at the EFCCM Home Office in Langley, BC. He would be able to guide us.

Not 15 minutes later, Wade and Adele Hammond passed us! It was like God was saying to us, "This is the way, walk in it." from Isaiah 30:21. We tried to flag them down, but that didn't work. (They were behind schedule, too, and didn't need to be interrupted by some crazy person in the car behind them!). When we came to the first traffic light in Stettler, it turned red so I hopped out of the car and ran up to their window and asked if they had time to stop at Tim's for a short visit! What would you do if someone came running up to your car at a stop light??!!

They phoned and got their lunch appointment moved back 30 minutes and we were able to have a short visit with them to talk about how to proceed with applying to be missionaries. God's timing is amazing!

So we just had to include the picture of Tim Horton's in Stettler. It is one more reminder of God's hand upon our lives in this journey. Thanks for being part of that journey with us.

This week at home Scott is busy preparing to speak at Manitou Lake Bible Camp and I am planning to get some packing done and take care of other important details.

The farmers will soon be busy in the fields, if they aren't already. Keep them in your prayers during this busy season.
