A Slight Change in Plans

Sorry for such a long delay from our last post. We have talked about it at different times, but stuff and things to do come along and it gets postponed.

We purchased a 40 foot Seacan container to store our belongings and car in and it needed some TLC. We did a lot of grinding and sanding as we found some leaks in the roof and a few other issues. We got all of that finished before the snow arrived a few days later. We are pretty much ready for when the time will come to put the car inside.

We have had a challenging fall for the farmers, but Scott was able to get a couple of days in helping Jim and Karen and you can see his view from the combine.

On Thanksgiving Monday, harvest was halted with 4-6 inches of snow. It made for an interesting drive to see our daughter Lindsay and her family in Lloydminster that day. Driving was a challenge, but it was much better as we came back later that day. This upcoming week looks like the weather the farmers are looking for as the temperatures will be double digits. Hopefully they can take it off dry.

As we left for Calgary this past weekend for our EFCC Prairie District Conference, we found out that our visas from the Ukrainian Consulate have arrived and are waiting for us in Cut Knife. We had hoped to get our tickets purchased as quickly as possible, but last Thursday, a health issue came up that has to be dealt with before tickets can be purchased. Shannon had a mammogram and they found a calcified lump that the doctor wants to do a biopsy on. We hope to have the appointment in the next week or so. We will be able to purchase our tickets as soon as the results from the biopsy are known. Thank you for praying for us at this time for God's peace and Presence! He is so good!

We had a great District Conference in Calgary and the guest speaker was the pastor of the host church. Pastor Jaime, originally from Brazil, gave us two challenging messages on what it means for us to be "set apart" for God and His Kingdom and also from Romans 1:14-16 as we were challenged to "not be ashamed of the Gospel," but to realize the power and purpose of the Gospel message that the world needs to hear.

From Calgary, we drove to Red Deer to attend church at Unity Baptist Church. This was our home church from 2005-2007 when we lived in Red Deer. It was great to see many familiar faces.

After church we drove to Leslieville to visit our daughter and four of our grandchildren. We enjoyed a game of bowling and some tea parties with our grandchildren  This will be the last time we see them for over 21 months. They will change a lot over that time. We are thankful for Skype and WhatsApp to be able to keep in touch while we are gone.
