Yard Sale

It is amazing how much stuff one acquires over the course of several decades! Helping Scott's parents with their garage sale helped us realize the importance of dealing with material possessions promptly rather than putting them away for another day, which doesn't arrive for many, many years, in some cases!

Years worth of good deals

Treasures waiting to be discovered

The sale was a big success I think. Lots of people dropped by and went away with new treasures. The garage was full and the shop seemed to have an unending supply of items to be sold. However, by Saturday noon we had managed to clear out all the nooks and crannies and there was a feeling of excitement in the air as we saw just how much stuff had been sold. We even had discovered a few things in storage, which we put up for sale.

It was great to connect with Scott's three sisters for the three and a half days we were all together. It will be strange for the family to drive by Simpson and know that this is not the place to visit Mom and Dad anymore. There are lots of memories to think about.

On Sunday, July 8 we spoke in Davidson where we met many new people and connected with a few old friends and family. We enjoyed a delicious potluck lunch with fresh strawberries and ice cream. Yum, yum!

Our hosts, Barry and Elaine, challenged us to a few games of Pickle Ball. Sad to say, but we need a lot more practice! Maybe we can introduce the game to Ukraine.

This week was yard work and laundry - the regular work of home owners. We got some good rain and discovered that a couple of the downspouts were plugged. Scott got wet unclogging them! (I held the ladder for him). We are enjoying our fresh produce - lettuce, potatoes, rhubarb and two cherry tomatoes!! The lilies are showing their beautiful colours and our rose bush has a few gorgeous red blooms, which we have cut to enjoy on the table.

Next week we plan to tackle the boxes we haven't looked in for the last three years! Maybe the china cabinet will get packed up, too. Another major decision we have to make is what to do about selling the house. Do we try to sell privately or list it again with a realtor??? If you think about us over the next few days, that would be our prayer request: wisdom.

Yesterday we went to pick up more brochures and prayer cards and then we continued to Lloydminster for a few things and had lunch with our daughter, Lindsay and her kids. They told us all about the parade they had just watched!

Today our daughter, Rachelle, and her kids stopped in for lunch on their way home from a family trip. We had lots of laughs and got a few pictures, too. It won't be very long and our connections with them will be over Skype.

This coming Sunday we are speaking in Beechy, SK (Hillside Christian Fellowship Church, 115 4th Ave. N at 9:45 am). If you're in the area, pop in. We would love to see you!

Take time to smell the roses, play in the puddles and watch a sunset.
Until next time, keep counting your blessings!
