Backyard work and hedgehogs

In between studying our lessons, we go outside and do some yard work for a while. We have filled another wagon with junk from construction debris, filled in two large holes with broken bricks and dirt and created a fire pit out of bricks. Now we just need to make time to sit outside in the evening to enjoy it! We also look forward to it being a time where we can sit with the students and Garry and Teresa and build friendships.

Our new fire-pit

About a week ago, while cleaning the yard, we found some guests...a pair of hedgehogs. They were very cute and actually friendly as you can see from the pictures. They were buried underneath some rubble in our yard, which got cleaned up, so we moved them to the vacant yard next door. We are going to see if we can find them again.

Our new friends

Yesterday, we went at cleaning the area around the outhouse! We finally dismantled it and what a job! They just moved it ahead over the years and the junk and metal that was part of its construction was incredible, BUT NOW IT IS GONE!!

When we hear people talk about the good old days, something we never hear anyone say is that they miss their outhouse. We can't imagine why! Well, ours is part of history and will be on its way to the junk yard soon. It gives us a nice clear view to the back yard now.

Today we cleaned up behind the house. We will attach before and after pictures. The yard is getting there and the old shed in the picture is the next thing to come down. After that will be moving our chickens to their new home, which is ready to go. We have to get some fence put up to keep them home. A lot of chickens in our village go wherever, but we want to keep ours at home. Hopefully we have some hens that will give us eggs later in the year.

AFTER - what a change!

We had another Russian lesson with Ulzana today. We have attached her picture to let you know who is teaching us. Ulzana is quite young, but she is a very good teacher and we are very thankful for her!
