More about B.C. and our travels

As you are probably aware, we just had a trip to B.C. and spoke at 3 churches along the way. This trip had many different components to it: our son's wedding, Pre-field Orientation at the EFCCM Home Office, connecting with friends and family, and making new connections at new churches. There was a lot packed into those 18 days!!

After having supper with our son Jordan in Victoria, our first full day on Vancouver Island was spent enjoying God's creation at Butchart Gardens near Victoria. So many amazing flowers and creative landscaping! I think we took several hundred pictures!

Along our journey to Comox for the wedding, we were able to connect with several friends (Everett & Solange, Brian & Glendene, former pastor Sam & Donna). We helped with some preparations (flowers and setting up tables and chairs in the back yard) for the wedding. The weather was perfect!

We are so thankful for how God is putting together our T.E.A.M. of support as we follow God's call on our hearts. We are up to 80% of our goal. Wow!! Thank you to those who have committed to pray for us, those of you who have hosted us in your homes, and those who have given financially. You are all so important in this ministry and we are so blessed by your kindness and generosity!

On June 24th we spoke at Central Valley EFCC in Courtenay. We got to hear a young lady's testimony as she prepared for water baptism and we were so encouraged by her commitment to follow the Lord. In the evening we were invited to Pastor Dave and Lydia's home for dessert and we were able to share more of our story with the guests they had invited.

Pre-field Orientation meetings were a great help to us as we prepare to live and serve in Ukraine. We were given many helpful tools and information about what to expect and how to adjust to life in a new country and culture. We also met two other couples preparing to serve around the world. We had lots of laughs, so much great food, times of fellowship and prayer together. While in Langley, we were able to stay with Bert & Karen, formerly from Imperial, where we came to know the Lord.

On the way to Vernon, we got to reconnect with Eldon & Marilyn. Eldon was a former pastor in the church we attended while in Bible College. It was great to see them again and pray with one another. Marilyn is going through treatments for cancer and needs our prayers. For Saturday lunch, we got to meet with Charles, a former high school teacher (that's a while ago!) It is so good to reconnect with friends and family after a number of years.

On July 1st we spoke in Grace Bible Church in Vernon. We are so thankful for the hospitality of Paul & Victoria who hosted us in their home. They are from South Africa and know exactly where our son lives near Cape Town. It's a small world sometimes! Rick, from the Mission's Team at Grace Bible Church, showed us around Vernon after church and we saw some neat places around the city. That evening we had supper with Paul & Victoria and others from their church before we began the journey back to Saskatchewan.

We arrived home Monday night and got some work done around home and are now leaving to help my parents with a three day garage sale as they have sold their home after 49 years and move into a condo for seniors.
